Notes

This blog is going to be a bit longer than the ones before.

I am moving in 2 weeks.

I am packing right now.

Out of nowhere, I have become a bit sad to leave my current apartment. This little bundle of joy has treated me well since I first called it home. I moved to Los Angeles 3 years ago to pursue, well, I had no idea what I wanted to pursue at the time. I was a fresh faced, 23 year old college grad, ready to take on the City of Angels. I started as an intern at a PR firm, and knew within a week that it wasn’t the right job for me. I lasted about 6 months there before my mother was kind enough to find a radio promotions gig on craigslist for me. I applied, I got the interview, I got the 2nd interview, and I got the job. I put in my two weeks immediately.

Two years of hard work, the right timing, and good people who believed in me, I am now the Promotions Manager of a top 40 station in Los Angeles. If you asked me three years ago what I thought I would be doing in 2010, I would have laughed at you and said “We’ll see.” I still can’t really believe how well Los Angeles has treated me.

I found this apartment on craigslist, and immediately fell in love. The charming wood paneling that covers the floor, walls and ceiling made me feel like I found a little tree house in the center of the city. It was perfect. A week after setting foot in L.A I found a home. My own home. I no longer had to share my space with anyone. It has been the best experience of my life.

I can’t wait to move into my new place with the greatest boyfriend I’ve ever had, and I truly am anxious to see what the next year has in store. But I have to admit that I feel like I am saying goodbye to such a great part of my life, and will miss the little kinks in the wooden walls that seem to have a life of their own. Goodbye Fred Flinstone spot. Goodbye to the eyes in the ceiling that belong to the little boy staring down at me. Goodbye to the man walking down the cold snow ridden streets of his tiny town.
